Week 37

Our final full week of school was wonderful!  We enjoyed so much time in God's creation!

"Mrs. Brouwer, take a picture of our pyramid..." :)

Field Day was on Thursday and it was a beautiful day!  We enjoyed a lot of time outside with the K/1 forest kids playing games and having so much fun!

Announcements & Reminders:

*Please remember to order lunch by 7am on Tuesday!  Remember you must order in this time frame for the whole week.  If you click on the three lines in the top left corner of the blog, there is a quick link to the lunch form.

*We are having a special 2nd grade celebration to end our year together on Tuesday, June 2. It is a SURPRISE! If you'd like to sign-up to donate some items - please do so. We will sneakily gather all items from PR on June 1. Thanks! :)

*Homework bags are due for the FINAL time on Tuesday!

*Please be sure to help your 2nd grader remember a water bottle. With the temperature warming up each afternoon - we have lots of kids that need a cup for water.

*From the Office:

-Parent Partner Invitation

We are looking to welcome two or three new parents to join us in this meaningful role on our Parent Partner (formerly known as parent board) team. Our Parent Partners meet once a month for one hour (typically on a Tuesday morning). Siblings are warmly welcome to come along to our meetings! We're kid friendly!

The Forest School Parent Partners play an important role in supporting our students and staff—helping us all flourish together. From organizing cherished events like our Forest Family Night Hikes, Walkathon, Heaven and Nature Sing, Staff Christmas Luncheon, Forest Field Day and more, board members help make our program a uniquely connected community! Responsibilities are shared among members, with most choosing to help facilitate one or two events during the year.

What does it take to join?
Just a heart full of creativity, a spirit of honesty, a desire to serve, and most importantly—a willingness to bring the JOY!

If you’re interested in learning more or signing up, please reach out to Miska Rynsburger at mrynsburger@hollandchristian.org.

----------

Bible:  We focused this week on how we, 2nd graders at Sassafras House can be Image Reflecting and also show Order Discovering! These kiddos have so much of Jesus' love in their hearts to share!

ELA:  We chose one fairy tale, fable, or folktale to read and investigate this week.

We are continuing our Time Capsule work!  We wrote letters to others this week!  These will be coming home next week for you to keep in a safe place for the next 10 years!  :) We will not seal them so you're able to add some items in once it comes home.

Math:  We are continuing our graphing work. We're spending time reading graphs and answering questions about the graph.

Outdoor Learning:  We're finishing our Community Unit with a Community Carnival! Students are working in a small group to create a game for others to play. This involves problem solving and working together! They started by collecting items from nature to use. They had to brainstorm ideas and rules for their games, then build the game, and test it out!

On Tuesday we went to Paw Paw Park and enjoyed God's creation!  We spread joy to our community through sidwalk chalk art!
