Week 20

It was so wonderful to see the sun shining again!

Swimming lessons wrapped up this week!  On Wednesday 2nd graders learned about water safety and then got to spend some time in the Splash Zone!  They worked so hard these past two weeks - I am proud of them!

*Friday folders and homework bags are due on Tuesday! We talked a lot about responsibility this week and I've encouraged my 2nd graders to work hard on getting their homework done, asking for a parent signature, and putting it in their own backpacks to bring back on Tuesday!

----------

Bible:  We're learning about the 12 Disciples - who they were, what they did before following Jesus, and how they became one of Jesus' followers.

ELA:  We are continuing to focus on non-fiction text features. We're working hard to identify them in our books and explain their purpose.

Math:  We are adding mixed coin values together. We also took the math MAP test this week.

Outdoor Learning:  We're starting a new unit in Outdoor Learning! We're going to be learning all about animals that live around Sassafras Ridge, building animal homes, writing about these, and watching (via trail cams) what animals happen to be around when we are not. We started this week by looking for signs of animals: fur/hair/feathers, scat, tracks, homes, etc. We chose our animals to focus on and are getting excited to go research next Tuesday at the library.

Star Student: Cullen was our Star Student this week. We had fun looking at his pictures and poster. We learned that Cullen is really good at martial arts and loves his family and animals. Cullen you are a special child of God and we are thankful you are a part of our classroom family!
