Week 14
It was a great week in the forest! We had some sun, some rain, and some cold! Thank you for helping your child be prepared for the weather with all the outdoor gear - I know it can be a lot to bring but it helps our time outside go more smoothly when we have the right gear!
Today we celebrated 1,000 Hour Day with the K-1 students!
Announcements & Reminders:
*Please remember to order lunch by 7am on Monday! Remember you must order in this time frame for the whole week. If you click on the three lines in the top left corner of the blog, there is a quick link to the lunch form.
*Homework bags and Friday folders are due back on Monday.
*There will be no new homework sent home next week - reading is a great habit to continue even without a reading log! ;)
*CHANGE: Books orders are due on Tuesday, November 25 by 3:00pm. Please be sure to let me know if you'd like to keep the books a surprise for your child and I can let you know when they arrive.
*On December 1 we will be starting a K-2 FS collection for the Gateway Missions Children and Women Center. We are practicing our "Servant Living" discipleship practice this holiday season.
*From the Office:
-3rd Annual “And Heaven And Nature Sing” Family Fun
We hope you can join us for a special evening in the Forest with your family from 6:00 - 7:30pm on Friday, December 12! As part of this third annual event for FS K-5 families, the FS Parent Board has planned a special craft, a guided nighttime hike through Luke 2, and Christmas caroling together!
Kindly RSVP for this event by Friday, December 5.
-Christmas Lunch Helpers
Please join us in celebrating our FS teachers and staff during the Christmas season. Several volunteers are needed to provide classroom coverage on 12/10 from 11:30am-12:45pm so that teachers are able to attend the FS Christmas Luncheon together. An email with a sign-up link is forthcoming.
-Winter Gear
The cold temperatures are coming! Check out these tried and true gear recommendations compiled by the Forest School Parent Board as we welcome winter.
Bible: This week we continued to focus on gratitude. We water color painted a scene to put behind our thankful cross. These are hanging up beautifully in our classroom.
ELA: We're focusing on author's purpose in reading - we're learning this is an easy as PIE (Persuade, Inform, Entertain). We're continuing our opinion writings, today in Friday folders you will find your child's opinion writing about the tastiest fruit.
Math: We're focusing in on place value to help us move into 2 digit addition.
Outdoor Learning: We finished up our signs - they look amazing!
Star Student: Carolyn was our Star Student this week! We enjoyed looking at her pictures and poster. We learned that Carolyn is really good at singing and being funny and she wants to be a vet when she grows up. Carolyn, you are a special child of God and we are thankful He placed you in our classroom family!
