Week 12

We had a fantastic week in the forest! Every day is a new adventure and the forest is changing rapidly!



















We got to see our Y5 buddies on Thursday!  The 2nd graders became the teachers and guided their Y5 buddies through leaf art and stick art.  They took their role very seriously and did a great job leading their buddies through some nature art projects...take a look at this creativity and these smiles!  













Announcements & Reminders:

*Friday folders are coming home today. Please take some time over the weekend to look over these papers with your child. Have him/her explain their work to you. Some may be considered "fridge worthy" but we also talk about how we cannot keep every piece of paper from school ;).


*Homework bags are due on Monday. Please encourage your child to return his/her homework on Monday. Thanks!

Bible:  We attended chapel this week where the other 2nd grade class reminded us to have Jesus be a part of our every day.



Thursday Praise with all 2nd graders is a highlight of our week!  



ELA:  We moved into learning about non-fiction text this week. We enjoyed finding some non-fiction books and had a lot of fun sharing with our reading partner the facts and details we're learning.




We've started opinion writing this week - we're currently writing about our favorite cookie!  






Math:  We took a math test this week over Unit 1. We also starte looking at word problems that included subtraction!





Outdoor Learning:  We continued looking at spaces around Sassafras Ridge and how to keep visitors and God's nature safe!








Star Student: Aniston was our Star Student this week. We had fun looking at Aniston's pictures and poster. We learned that she is really good at helping people and wants to be a doctor when she grows up. Aniston you are a special child of God, we are thankful God placed you in our classroom family.

Week One

Wow - what an absolutely fantastic week!  I am so happy to be on this journey with your family!  It's been wonderful to get to know your sweet second grader over the course of this week! Week Two

We are learning, growing, and having fun in the forest!  Yesterday and today, I've noticed a few extra big feelings and some quick tears (all have been resolved with some gentle reminders and a little problem solving ;) ).  I am thankful a long weekend is upon us because I believe my sweet second graders need a small break to rest, sleep in, snuggle with Mom/Dad, and have time at home with their families.   Announcements & Reminders : *Please remember to order lunch by 7am on Tuesday!  Remember you must order in this time frame for the whole week.  If you click on the three lines in the top left corner of the blog, there is a quick link to the lunch form.   *Please send back your child's empty Friday folder on Tuesday. *There is an invitation in your child's Friday folder for a Pastor breakfast.
