Week 8

What a beautiful week we had!  The rain brought out some wonderful colors!  The forest is just stunning right now!

We're updating our JOY tree!  We used green leaves at the beginning of the year to write things that make us joyful.

This week we made colorful handprints and wrote things we're thankful for on them.  These look like the leaves we see outside right now!  These things bring us JOY!

----------

Bible:  Wednesday morning was a beautiful time of praising our Lord! These sweet second graders have so much JOY!

ELA:  We're working on a character study. We've chosen a book and a character in that book. Now we are taking the time to read the book and figure out the different story elements (character, problem/solution, character feelings, character traits, connections, lessons, etc.).

In writing, we're publishing our Seed stories!  We are working so hard!

Math:  We're working on story problems. We're learning some different strategies to use to solve these problems.

Outdoor Learning:  This week we learned about pollination. We spent some time on a sunny warm day and on a cooler kind of rainy day observing flowers for pollinators.

On Thursday we played a pollination game!  The kids were put into relay teams and had their hands painted a different color (this was our example of pollen).  When they participated in their relay they had to clap hands with their teammate which transferred the paint (like pollen moves from flower to flower with a bee or butterfly).

Today we hung out in our hammocks and played at the beach pond.  Then we did writing while laying and enjoying God's creation in our hammocks!

Star Student: Aaron was our Star Student this week. We had fun looking at Aaron's poster and pictures. We learned that Aaron is really good at soccer and wants to be a banana ball player when he grows up. Aaron, you are a special child of God and we are thankful you're a part of our classroom family!

Important Dates:

*Thursday, October 16 - Parent/Teacher conferences (P/T conference sign-up)

*Monday, October 20 - Parent/Teacher conferences (P/T Conference sign-up)

*October 22-24 - No School due to teacher meetings and CEA convention

*Tuesday, October 28: K-2 Forest Celebration (Bella Vista Farm)

*Wednesday, October 29: Picture retakes at PR (please return your picture packet)

Have a Fantastic Weekend!
