Week 38

I just cannot believe how quickly this year has flown by!  It's crazy to think we only have 2.5 more days!  It was a beautiful week - the forest fun and learning we're having each day is an absolute joy to witness!

We met the 1st graders on Tuesday and showed them around Sassafras House and toured them through our playscape!  We wrote letters to a first grade buddy and shared it with him/her.

Announcements & Reminders:

*Please remember to order lunch by 7am on Monday!  This will ONLY be for Tuesday if your child would like a school lunch. There will be NO SCHOOL LUNCH on Monday, June 2. We are having an extended learning time at the beach pond, so we need all 2nd graders to have a home lunch to take along to the beach pond. Thanks!

*If you are dropping off late/picking up early - please fill out this FORM so that PR Office knows! Thanks!!

*On Wednesday there is a special chapel to honor the 2nd graders. It begins at 8:30 at the FS Campus. Parents and grandparents are welcome to attend.

From the Office:

*Forest School North Side Shuttle

Beginning this fall, we will begin offering a shuttle service for our Forest School families who reside on the northside of Holland! Before school pick up will be at Rose Park Elementary at 8:05 am to bring students to the Forest School Cabins and Pine Ridge.

Afternoon drop off details will be announced later this summer. The fee for this service is $170 per student, regardless of usage. Families must register for North Side Forest School Transportation by July 1st.

*Sunscreen

The sun rays are becoming more direct at this time of year! We LOVE the warmth but also want to ensure our children are safe from the UV rays. Would you please talk with your children at home and practice applying the sunscreen of your choice? If you’d like your child to reapply at school, we will teach children how to apply a fresh coating of sunscreen that you send with your child to keep them well protected from the UV rays. Thank you!

-------

Bible:  We had our final Thursday Praise this week. It's been a joy to praise the Lord together through song each Thursday.

ELA:  We wrote a book review and then shared these with one another. We used other people's book reviews to create our own summer reading list that is coming home in Friday folders today.

We worked on our faith writing this week.  We've talked all year about how we can be more like Jesus.  So our faith writing went along with this.  We also wrote advice to K-1 forest school kids.

We spent time practicing our May spelling words through movement activities.  Our test was today.

Math:  During math this week we reviewed graph making by going on a quick nature hunt. We came back together with our group and organized our pieces of nature into groups and then graphed these.

We also spent time practicing time telling.  Reading an analog clock can be a little tricky - this would be a good skill to practice this summer at home!

We made our own analog clocks to practice reading the time as well as showing certain times!  This will be coming home next week to use as a practice tool.

Important Dates

*Wednesday, June 4:  End of the Year Chapel honoring 2nd graders (8:30-9:00ish)

*Wednesday, June 4:  Last Day of 2nd Grade

Have a Wonderful Weekend!
