Week 22

We had a great week with wonderful snow, lots of sunshine, and smiles!  All winter gear is coming home today.  It was soaking wet and needs a good clean up and a lot of dry time!  Please send all this freshened up gear back on Monday.  We will need it!  It's really helpful for your child to have a reusable bag that he or she can pack all snow gear/wet items in to bring back and forth from school to home.  I gave out cloth bags (navy blue) at the start of winter.  If your child can locate this - it's a great addition to be using.

Announcements & Reminders:

*Please remember to order lunch by 7am on Monday!  Remember you must order in this time frame for the whole week.  If you click on the three lines in the top left corner of the blog, there is a quick link to the lunch form.

*If you are dropping off late/picking up early - please fill out this FORM so that PR Office knows! Thanks!!

Forest Family Night Hike:

We hope you can join us for a special evening in the forest with your family from 6:00-7:30pm on Thursday, February 20! The FS Parent Board has planned a nighttime hike at the FS campus. Families are encouraged to bring headlamps/flashlights and sleds depending on weather conditions. No RSVP necessary for this event.

-------

Bible:  Our class leads chapel again soon (Feb. 12). So we've begun preparations for that. We are continuing to learn about each of the 12 disciples. We attended chapel on Wednesday with Pastor Brown and learned about the friends that helped a paralyzed man get to Jesus.

ELA:  We've moved into reading non-fiction! We're spending time using non-fiction features to guide us in our learning.

Our snowman stories are finally complete!  These writers worked so hard on their publishing!  We've moved into non-fiction writing.

Math:  We are adding three and four numbers together! We're also adding money together. We've finished up our unit and will take our test next week.

Outdoor Learning:  We're finishing up our study of solids, liquids, and gasses and were able to find different examples of these states of matter around Sassafras Ridge. We also had a lot of fun creating our own examples of solids, liquids, and gasses.

We made predictions about what we think might happen when we mix our special liquid (vinegar) with the solid (baking soda).

We made a gas!  Lots of bubbles!

Star Student:  Evan was our Star Student this week. We enjoyed looking at his pictures and poster. We learned that Evan is really good at sports and loves playing soccer. He wants to be a soccer player when he grows up. Evan, you are a special child of God and we are thankful you are a part of our classroom family.
