I pray you have a wonderful, peace-filled, relaxing Christmas break celebrating the birth of our Savior! May you be able to take time to slow down and focus on the real reason for the season - include your sweet second grader is this discussion. We've talked a lot about how this is the season of patiently waiting for God's plan of sending the Savior.
Thank you for all your donations of women's and kid's clothes, PJs, and toiletry items! We collected so many items! There was WAY more than 1 item for each 2nd grader to hold! This is so exciting! On Thursday, the 1st graders went to Gateway Missions Women Center to deliver all the items our K-2 FS kiddos collected.
We started our week with rain...but Christmas hat/headgear brightened the dreary weather!
Tuesday we had a fun Christmas sweater day! The weather was cold, but it wasn't quite so gray out.
We had a great Red & Green Day on Wednesday!
And we enjoyed a lot of imagination time in the forest! Such creative games!
Thursday was a FANTASTIC Day! Our Christmas party was so fun and exciting! We didn't end up with the snow we were hoping for, but had a great time making s'mores and playing games!
Then we moved inside and had our gift exchange. The excitement, love, and gratitude toward one another warmed my heart!
We made jingle bell necklaces and warmed up with cocoa and snacks! Thanks so much to everyone who helped supply our party with craft supplies, drink and snack supplies, and items for the snow that we didn't use at the party, but did on Friday when we had snow!!
Today was the perfect day for cozy Christmas jammies!
We earned another 10 Star Reward this week...extra drawing/craft time!
We enjoyed the snow today - it was a beautiful day in the forest!
Announcements & Reminders:
*Please remember to order lunch by 7am on Monday, December 16! Remember you must order in this time frame for the whole week. If you click on the three lines in the top left corner of the blog, there is a quick link to the lunch form.
*Friday folders are coming home today - we have a lot of pages coming home. We cleaned out our folders and those pages are coming home too. There is a light green reading challenge at the top of your child's folder. This is not homework, but an opportunity to do some fun reading over break! Please send empty folders back on Monday, January 6.
Bible: We enjoyed talking about the birthday of Savior and continuing to learn about Advent. Advent books are coming home today with one final page 2nd graders may choose complete 'on Christmas' (sometime over break - it would be when the fifth and final candle would be lit on the Advent wreath).
ELA: We had some fun exercising while practicing our December Spelling Words!
We spent some writing time writing Christmas cards! We wanted to continue spreading Christmas joy! We focused on adding all the parts of a complete sentence.
We loved reading Christmas books this week and looking at the character traits, setting, plot, problem and solution, and writing a book review. We had so much fun sharing our books with our partners!
We read The Gingerbread Man and The Ninjabread Man and then wrote our own ending for the story.
Math: We continued learning and practicing double digit addition. I am so proud of my kiddos for working so hard on such tricky math!
Outdoor Learning: All Creation Waits was definitely a favorite as we learned about many of God's creatures and how they prepare for and 'wait' through the winter. For Funday Friday today we worked with a team to build snow sculptures and use snow paint to add some color!
