Week 14
What a week full of weather to remind us to be prepared for everything ;) ! It's important to have cold weather gear at school now! Please make sure to send in snow clothes (even if there's not snow, this helps us stay warm), extra hats and mittens/gloves, and snow boots. I recommend keeping an extra hat and gloves in our classroom as a back up set just in case! I will also be sending home hats and gloves each day to ensure these are getting dried so we're ready for the next day!
Announcements & Reminders:
*Please remember to order lunch by 7am on Monday! Remember you must order in this time frame for the whole week. If you click on the three lines in the top left corner of the blog, there is a quick link to the lunch form.
*If you are dropping off late/picking up early - please fill out this FORM so that PR Office knows! Thanks!!
*Friday folders are coming home. Please look over the papers with your child and send the empty folder back on Monday.
*Homework bags are due on Monday. There will be no homework sent home next week. We will take our spelling test when we return from Thanksgiving break.
*From the Office:
-As part of our mission to equip minds and nurture hearts to transform the world for Jesus Christ, HC works to provide students with the knowledge and skills to guard themselves in this fallen world. Part of HC’s commitment to student safety is providing counsel and resources for sexual abuse prevention and intervention from the Children’s Advocacy Center. Please see the informed consent letter for more information.
If you have any questions about the content of the presentation, we encourage you to reach out to the Children’s Advocacy Center. If you would like your child to not participate in the presentation, please fill out this form at least one week prior to the presentation date. HC will anticipate participation unless they receive a submitted opt-out form.
Our class presentation will happen on: December 6 at 1:40.
-And Heaven And Nature Sing: We are enjoying the beauty of the changing seasons outside! The Forest is a beautiful place to be these days. Before we know it, we’ll be transitioning to winter beauty! Our parent board is finalizing AMAZING plans for our second annual And Heaven and Nature Sing event for your family! We hope you can join us for an evening in the Forest with your family from 6:00-7:30pm on Thursday, December 12! Grandparents are invited too! We have a special craft planned for your children, a guided nighttime hike through Luke 2 and Christmas caroling together! In order for us to have enough materials for our crafts and hot chocolate to keep you warm, would you kindly RSVP for this event by Monday, December 2? Please RSVP using this form
-------
Bible: This week we learned how God used ordinary people to do extraordinary things. On Wednesday the 1st graders presented a chapel about being thankful. Our class brainstormed a big list of things we're thankful for and then combined them into sentences that a few friends shared.
ELA: In reading this week we focused on the main idea of our books and looked for supporting details. During writing we've been working hard on opinion writing. We've written about fall, our favorite fruit, and are beginning to write about our favorite Thanksgiving food!
Math: Wow - we are working on some tricky work! Not only are we adding and subtracting equations and story problems, but we are also working on place value, number words, and expanded form! Whew! I am so proud of these kiddos for their grit while we tackle some hard math!
Outdoor Learning: We started off the week dry and were able to draw our "Sit Spot" again (this is our 3rd time sitting in this same spot) and drawing what we see. We're noticing some big changes!
Star Student: Case was our Star Student this week! We enjoyed looking at Case's poster and pictures! We learned that Case likes playing baseball, football, and soccer and wants to be a Pokemon card and football card creator when he grows up. Case you are a special child of God and we are glad you're a part of our classroom family!
